How much fitness / workout during a prolonged fast (7 days)?

This is my second prolonged fast, my first one has been 3,5d and I’m used to 16:8 IF.

I’m currently at 50h/168h (total 7 days) and feeling good with a slight headache at the moment. I don’t want to exercise right now, but tomorrow, I could find the time.

My goal would be to maintain as much muscle as possible. What are your experiences with working out? Nothing too intense, but a couple of bodyweight exercises and some jumping jacks as warm up?

I’m only consuming electrolytes, no bone broth etc. I know that for muscle buildup, you need protein intake, which I will have exactly 0 because I want to make the most out of the autophagy.

As I said, anybody have experiences with exercise during prolonged fasting?

Answer

I always do my workout in a fasted state. My longest fast was 5 days and I exercised almost every day (im doing upper/lower split 4x/week) and I was feeling amazing. Just remember to drink electrolytes, maybe some more than usual if you feel bad. My advice would be not to use your maximum weight during your workouts so you won’t rip them off and by using them you’re kinda telling your body that you need them, so Itwon’t use em as fuel. But fasting is really muscle sparing so if you don’t spike your insulin it wouldn’t happen anyway.
