How much flaxseed, chia seeds, and psyllium husk is too much per day (tbsp)

Is it fine to have them all in one meal with them all ground up (e.g. porridge) or is it better to space them out throughout the day?

Answer

I dont know if you can really overdose on too much flax seed or chia seeds or husk. it is just that if you eat too much fiber/omega-3s, your body won’t be able to absorb that much so you are just wasting money putting too much in.

Answer

Are you having issues with constipation- those ingredients would make me guess you are. I have IBS and am working with a registered dietitian who specializes in IBS. I agree with what others said, in that it will vary from individual to individual. I eat oatmeal several times a week, some things I put in it: 3 tbsp pumpkin seeds, 1 tbsp hemp… but then I have to add 1 1/2 tbsp of chia and 3 tbsp of ground flax because I have severe IBS! This is the number we’ve found to greatly reduces my individual symptoms. I’m not sure if you’re worried about taking too much- like, if my partner ate my oatmeal he’d react so different… but it depends so much on your individual system. I have been taught to gradually increase bulking/fibers when having issues. But, I have a general baseline when it comes to oatmeal that I have found through trial and error that keeps things regular

Answer

I doubt there will be any significant health issues however you can experience bloating constipation or other issues from either increasing your fiber intake too quickly or having too much fiber full stop
