how much harm to a dry fast would dry swallowing a caffeine pill do?

i normally do not drink a lot of caffeine at all, maybe some green tea a few times a week. however i’m practicing dry fasting lately and i get super exhausted halfway through the day which really affects my concentration at work. i dry swallowed (as in, swallowed a 200mg caffeine pill which is about equal to one cup of coffee without any liquids/water, just straight down the hatch) and it really helped.. but i’m wondering how it could negatively affect an otherwise pristine dry fast.

i really want to keep doing these but i work 5 days a week and take weekends off since i spend them with my friends and boyfriend. what do you think? anyone else do anything like this?

It’s not a clean DF but I think it’s way better than not doing it at all. A lot of metabolic and healthy advantages of DF should be preserved. So do it if it permits you to be into DF more frequently and/or longer

Technically you broke your fast but it’s like worrying about a single drop of gasoline when you are on a 1000km road trip.

Personally if it was a hard choice between eating a meal to get through the day or taking a single pill when the fast gets hard I would take the pill.

The point of fasting is to deprive the body of ALL nutrients so that it goes into survival mode and does everything it can to save the body (healing, etc.). But if you consume vitamins or other nutrients like caffeine, then it is counterproductive and can lead to complications in the worst case. If fasting makes you tired, you should first adjust your body to fat metabolism. You can do this by eating a ketogenic diet. Once your body has fully adjusted to fat metabolism, fasting will not be very difficult for you.
