Ok, this is officially one of the strangest question I’ve ever seen on this sub lol (not counting the person who asked if vomiting broke fast)

Coffee is extremely subjective and there’s probably 10-15 different ways to make it. Are you trying to make just one cup or a lot? I personally love coffee and drink a ton of it. Cheap and easy method for a lot of coffee is just a standard 8 or 10-cup coffee machine or a Chemex for pour over coffee (I personally use a Chemex a lot). Buy whatever ground coffee you like - maybe start with a light or blonde roast for less acidity if you’re not a coffee person. If you go the Chemex route, make sure you get the Chemex filters (or an alternative brand - search around Amazon, there are a lot of options). If you’re just getting a standard coffee machine, filters are filters. Get whatever is cheaper or get a reusable one.

A good method for a single cup is an aeropress. They are awesome little gizmos that make great coffee once you get use to it.

There’s no “recommended” type of coffee for IF. The only recommendation is to drink it black (if you can) so you don’t break fast with calories. Some people do dirty fasts and do a little bit of milk or something similar. There’s no right or wrong way tbh.

Cheapest is instant coffee. If you find one you like it’s not terrible (I usually drink it at a cottage I go to). But it isn’t that good if you intend to drink it black.

Easy to make is pour over style. You just need the beans ground to the correct grit, the coffee dripper part, and the correct paper filters to fit. Then you stick it on top of your mug and pour hot water overtop. You can get fancy or do it very simply.

Or you could go for the keurig style machine which is easy but a bit more expensive.

Edit to add. I don’t use a percolator because I hate cleaning them!

My favorite all around methods of brewing coffee are pour over and french press.

If you search Amazon for chemex, that’s the style of brewing, but buy one of the other brands that are half the cost of the chemex. They work exactly the same and usually come with reusable steel filters, but you can also slip in a cheap cone filter from the supermarket.

Searching for french press will also yield a lot of results, then you can narrow down the size of the pot you want. Just remember coffee brewers measure coffee cup sizes as 6 ounces, so go slightly bigger than you think you need.

There really isn’t a “better” type of coffee, so experiment with different roast types until you find which one you like. Try to drink it black without milk or sugar.

I should think the cheapest will be something like the hario v60 filter which makes nice quality filter coffee. You can choose a mild, smooth coffee like columbian to start with. For IF I mix my coffee with some ground chicory to get a french coffee (new orleans style) because chicory is high in prebiotic inulin fibre and along with coffee is an appetite suppressant.

For me, the simplest and best way is a French press/cafetière and an electric kettle. That way you don’t need any disposable filters. I find it makes much more flavorful coffee compared to a drip coffeemaker. (I bought a stainless steel French press because I kept breaking the glass ones while washing dishes. Glass ones are prettier, though.)

If you can get a grinder and freshly grind your beans each morning, that will also make a big difference in flavor.

Quality of beans matters, but there is no single “best” option. Look up local coffee roasters in your city to get some really high-quality beans, but they likely won’t be cheap. Experiment with different brands in your price range to see what you like best.

A method that’s forgiving of less high-quality beans is cold-brewing. This method also makes it easier for many people to drink black coffee (best for IF), because it produces much less-bitter coffee. Just combine ground coffee and cold water in your French press and let it sit between 8-24 hours.
