Hello all,
I’ve started an 18-6 daily schedule since around 2 weeks ago and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I haven’t had any real issues so far, but i’m facing a potential one this weekend; I’ve made plans to go out with friends and when we do we usually drink until late, past my daily eating window.
Have you had any experience with this before? Do you have any advice on how I can modify my schedule temporarily to limit the impact this will have on my progress?
I’ve been there. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate…before and after. I don’t drink anymore, but the next day I’d force myself into the gym and lift heavy, low reps (DL and squat) to “work it out of my system.”
Worked for me, but I was ten years younger.
Personally, I’ll just have fun and drink like normal and then I’ll fast for a minimum of 24 hours after I’m done. Sometimes I push to 36 or 48, depending on how I feel. It sucks, but especially hungover, but it works for me.
Lots of water, electrolytes, and sleep. And excersise if you can.
I only IF sunday night through friday afternoon. I allow myself to indulge a little on the weekends but I find that I’m more conscious of it and automatically dial it back some. Just go and have fun. IF isn’t a rigid box, it’s a way of life and deviations are ok as long as discipoline is generally maitained.
It will never help you lose weight but it can be fun and fun is important. Enjoy yourself and make up for it later by getting back on. Like some others here, I’ll usually follow up with a longer than usual fast but that’s up to you. But having a little fun now and then is good for you.
I drink semi-regularly (2-3 times a month) and when I know I’m going out I eat light during my eating windows the day I go out for drinks and also the day after. I also stick to mostly hard liquor, rarely wine and no beer. I usually have whiskey neat or on the rocks, or I have gin and seltzer with lime.
The hard part for me is not eating when I’m drunk or even just buzzed, I get the munchies like crazy. I basically just have to tough it out, usually I’m successful but not always.
