How to gauge if I need electrolytes

I read an older post that you will know when you drink some snake juice/electrolyte water and it tastes good/refreshing to you - I’m not sure if I maybe used the wrong salt or something but I try to drink at about half a liter in the morning and I wouldn’t say it tastes refreshing, let alone good. I take a potassium+magnesium vitamin daily, but it supposedly only has about 20% of the daily potassium needed, so I assume I should keep drinking what tastes like watered down ocean? Edit: Numbers error.

Answer

I do not think it “tasting good” is a good metric. For me, if I get dizzy I’m not getting enough electrolytes. If I feel good, I am. Drinking salt water still tastes like drinking salt water either way.

Be careful about overdoing the potassium. It’s possible to have too much (that’s why most supplements are only like 40%) especially if you’re taking a pill and adding a lot to your snake juice. Better to focus on magnesium and sodium.
