how to get out of a plateau?

It’s been three weeks of 16/8 IF and things are looking good down 7 pounds but, now the scale barely moves and I’m thinking isn’t it too early to hit a plateau? It’s only been three weeks I’m just confused and looking for advice. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so what was the solution?

Just keep going. Three weeks is no time at all. You’re probably out of the initial phase where your body dumps a lot of water weight really quickly, and are starting the slower fat-loss phase. Fat loss happens slowly enough that random fluctuations in water weight can obscure it day to day, and even week to week. If you’re losing 1 pound of fat a week, but water weight can bounce your weight up and down each day by 1-5 pounds, it’s going to take a long time to detect a trend in that super noisy signal. Give it a couple more months and look at the overall trend over that time. Honestly, I wouldn’t even call it a plateau unless there is no downward trend over a couple of months.

I am almost 2 months in 16:8 and ive had 3 of those weeks with either zero weight loss or even 1-2 lb gain. However then some weeks I get a rapid loss. I think the key is just trusting the process and riding the waves. I figure it took me 3 years to pack this weight on, its going to take time to come off.

What were your calories before you starts vs. now? The body will adapt to lower calorie levels eventually (because it’s main goal is to stay alive and not starve to death…it doesn’t care if you want to look good in a swimsuit). If you have been dieting for more than 4ish months and have hit a plateau, you likely need a diet break. If you want to keep the weight off long-term, you need to do it in a sustainable way and that might mean going through multiple dieting cycles. Too much to type but this article explains it in more detail: https://www.couturefitnesscoaching.com/blog/how-to-break-through-a-weight-loss-plateau

Wow. I just posted very similar issue w OMAD for last month. Weight won’t budge and I am having a difficult time getting the food out that I’ve taking in. Not necessarily constipated, just nothing to get out.
