How to prepare for a holiday with IF

Hello everyone, some advice needed. I have been doing IF for about 6 weeks now. 18:6 where I break my fast at 20 hrs usually. One heavy meal that’s lunch and then a light dinner. I have lost about 2kgs in weight and my belly fat has reduced a bit. In April over the Easter weekend I have a planned vacation coming up and as much as I will try not to go overboard with my eating I don’t know what will happen as I won’t be following IF for that week. I will probably enjoy the vacation normally. My question is that one week won’t mess up all the progress I will have made in two months of IF will it? Of course I will get back to IF once the vacay is over. This is literally the only thing that has worked for me and I don’t want to mess it up. Please advice how to prepare for this vacay.

Answer

If youre gonna be eating and stuff Id say eat, but do stick with your fasting routine, or just move the hours around to fit the schedule.

Perhaps adjust to 16:8 to allow for more time to eat if theres alot of meal events during that time.

I got a family trip coming and will be adjusting my eating window possibly to 16:8 and doing like a 10am to 6pm eating and then fasting the other hours.

I do 12pm to 6pm daily with a scheduled one day a week Friday-Saturday 6pm to 2pm 20 hour fast and four hour eating window but do have at least one to two days of the work week where Im fasting close to or over 20 hours if it gets busy.

I had a two week vacation and I will share what worked for me.

Standard routine:

Holiday routine

In other words, do your best to adapt your existing routine vs. having a free for all. Holidays often involve many meals, and those meals may not fit into your typical windows. No worries, shift your window around as needed.

It’s okay to maintain your weight that week. Think of it as good practice for when you transition to maintenance.
