I want to fast for the health benefits but I’m on the lighter side and I struggle to keep weight on. Does anyone have any tips for fasting while maintaining weight? Lactose and fat intolerant too, which doesn’t help.
I suppose this comes down to Calories in vs Calories out
If your maintenance calories is 2500 a day, then multiply that by 7 to give the weekly calories (17,500) and split the calories across your eating days
So if you fast for 48 hours a week, split 17,500 calories across the remaining 5 days which is 3500 a day
It’s amazing how folks want to go through what feels like torture for health benefits and not to lose weight. I wish I had that problem, but I wouldn’t be fasting if it wasn’t for fat loss lol. Kudos to you !
Maybe try slimfast when you do eat? Fat wouldn’t be an issue, and i think it’s dairy free. As a snack or a drunk with a meal instead of as a meal replacement it’s an easy way to add in a bunch of calories.
I’m currently fasting not for weight loss and have been able to maintain / gain weight. It really just comes down to eating as much as possible within your window. I’ll sometimes have 5-6k calories within 2 hours if I’ve done a 22 - 36 hr fast. I never count calories or think about them in general I just eat as much as possible until I’m not hungry anymore and rinse and repeat. The fat intolerance makes this tricky though because foods high in fat are the most calorically dense.
