How to structure workout schedule around 24 hour fast.

I asked this question over at r/fitness but people over there would rather be pricks and criticize my “diet” rather than just answer the question, so i’ll ask it here.

Is protein more important for muscle growth/strength the day of a workout or the day after? For example, lets say it’s leg day and you can only consume protein (or eat in general) the day of or after the workout. Which would you choose? And assume you ate normally the day before. Basically, i’m lifting 5-6 days a week and fasting on Sundays. For the past few weeks i’ve been doing heavy legs on Saturdays but i’m not sure if i’m doing myself a disservice in that area by fasting the day after. I definitely would never abstain from food on a leg day, but it got me thinking all the same. So, which is more important for growth – protein /food the day of, or the day after?

Answer

you should have gone to r/leangains . Anywho a 24 hour fast isn’t really going to affect much if you were eating normally the day before in terms of growth. In terms of preformance, I don’t fast the day before my heavy soccer days where I play 2 games. I do notice my sprinting ability to be less, but if you don’t care about a competition or something keep on fasting once a week. Your growth shouldn’t be affected with such a short fast.
