How Well Does 14/10 Work?

Has anyone tried and had any success with 14h fasting/10h eating?

My mom wants to try intermittent fasting, but she’s a part time chef, and has to taste the cooked food starting from 8:00 a.m. However, if she goes with the suggested 16/8 plan, it means she will have to start fasting at 16:00 o’clock which seems pretty hard for her.

She can start with 14 hours and work her way up to 16 maybe. I currently eat breakfast and lunch but no dinner. I breakfast at 9AM and lunch at 2-3 PM so I have at least least 18 hour fasting. In the past I’ve had no breakfast but lunch and dinner btwn 2 and 8PM. It just depends on what’s going on in my life at the moment.

If she’s working part time does that mean she only works four hours per day or eight hours a few days a week? ADF (Alternate Day Fasting) may be another option for her if there are days she’s not working and doesn’t have to taste foods.

Answer

Good for your mom for wanting to try fasting. I started with 12:12 and it worked for me until it didn’t. It didn’t because illness etc got in the way. My point is something is better then nothing. And consistency is EVERYTHING. I suggest you watch Jason Fung’s videos on YouTube just to get an idea of what fasting does one’s body and health etc, I found those very helpful.
