I accidentally broke my fast with a cookie. Should I continue?

I think I can continue, I was 25 hours in. I’m not in a rush, so I can eat and start later. I really want the benefits of 72 hrs, so I’m trying to make it as clean as possible.

Answer

If you do continue, make sure you have some milk to dip them into.

Oh, you didn’t mean “continue eating cookies”. Well, I would say eat a decent healthy meal and start the timer again. The calorie deficit you had for 25 hours is still there (minus the cookie). Just refuel on nutrients and fast again.

If you subconsciously eat cookies, you might have discovered a challenge you can work on fighting against.

Answer

Walking 1 mile burns roughly 100 calories.I would burn the calories of the cookie and continue the fast, if I had a strong enough will. When I break a fast the flood gates go down and I overeat. I ended a 48hr fast at hour 43 yesterday because I ate one bell pepper while making the salad I was going to eat to break the 48. 1500 calories later my fast is trashed and time to start over. I envy your willpower to just eat 1 cookie.
