I ate by mistake

I was on a 16 hour fast and accidentally ate a small amount of food. My question is is my fasting back to square one?

Answer

Maybe for today, but make sure your overthinking doesn’t go into overdrive.

Very few of us are perfect in our IF regimens. The thing that counts is consistency. If you blow your fast for today, that’s one day. Do better tomorrow. Your body is going to be there tomorrow and won’t forget how to do this. It’s not going anywhere.

In general, I would recommend if you start eating in your fasting window, to just eat a regular meal if it’s an option. Keep it high quality calories. For example, if you get tempted by a muffin and eat it, you’re better off immediately eating a quality meal with protein and fat to go with it so you’re not just looking at a big simple carb blast. (IMO).

You must pull one tooth out of your mouth every time this happens! Ha!Seriously, if you keep intermittent fasting over a long period of time you are going to have some bumps in the road. Just get back on the wagon and keep a better watch for potholes.
