I couldn't really eat for three days and now I'm not hungry. Should I commit to a fast?

I was too broke for groceries while waiting on my new job to start. So I’ve just been having coffee with a splash of almond milk and a Tbsp of coconut oil, water, and about 400 additional calories each day in random bits of pantry leftovers (crackers, broth, seaweed.) I take a multivitamin each day.

I’m 38, 5’3”, 210 lbs last time I checked. I would feel a lot better around 150 (and have in the past).

I once lost 85 lbs in 11 mos. and maintained it for years. I just had a few years of extreme stress and put the weight back on with poor diet and no exercise. But I know how to lose weight. I’m quite good at it. No pointers needed. Not my question, thank you! And I’m emerging from the stress.

Is there a way to just jump into a fast since I’m already doing it? Kickstart a bit of weight loss? Can I just keep doing my coffee and light calories thing or is that not the same?

I am enjoying the clarity of thought and noticeable inflammation reduction all over my body. My skin is clearing up too.

I can add pedialyte for electrolytes.

Lmk what y’all think.

Answer

If you feel good, I say keep going - as long as your body is benefiting, and you’re paying attention to things like electrolytes, I don’t see any reason to stop, but make sure you have some food prepared for when you DO break your fast. Do it in a mindful way.
