I just learned how much working out is important too🄲

25 F 5ft SW:184 CW 149 I weigh my lowest ever adult weight right now, but I haven’t been feeling my best. Usually when I got down to 151ish I would feel super hot and really pretty and overall really great. This time I still felt really big and uncomfortable. I chalked it up to body dysmorphia and tried to ignore it lol. Until I went home to visit, I tried on my pre-pandemic dresses when I weighed 151-153 and… one was too tight and the other wouldn’t zip up! I was shocked. I have always been predominantly sedentary besides the occasional workout kick, so I didn’t realize it would be that much of an issue. And I wasn’t working out when I lost weight pre-pandemic. Then I realized… This time I was in lockdown spending most days alone in a tinyyy apartment. Low carb and IF, lost a lot of weight which is great but 3 years ago I was in college, living at home, and unintentionally doing an unhealthy version of IF lmao. I would drink all night (spirits and zero calorie mixers) which would remove my appetite. Then wake up hungover and not hungry. I was basically doing omad. I definitely don’t recommend the drinking part, BUT I was also dancing all the time. I forgot about that after so much time in lockdown. If it was a party or just a few friends at someone’s place we were ALWAYs dancing. All night. So I wasn’t really as sedentary as I thought. Also my mom’s house is gigantic compared to my tiny apartment. So even just going to my sister’s room, going downstairs to the kitchen, everyday routines etc, is waaay farther then in my apartment. So I was also getting a lot more steps in unconsciously compared to being in a smaller place. My bedroom at home is probably the size of my apartment lol. Anyways this just made me realize how bad lockdowns have been. And how much being active even unconsciously makes a crazy difference. Hope this helps anyone else who was struggling! I’ll definitely be more consciously active now that I know. This may seem obvious to those who are active/ workout, but losing weight by just changing my diet has always worked for me. It was just a combination of graduating, the lockdowns, moving to a smaller place, and all that which led to an extreme difference in lifestyle over two years. So I didn’t really notice all the contributing factors.

If it helps, you don’t need much space to get a good workout in! Even if you have a square of space you could do this daily and it would make a big difference. I’ve been working out at home for years and sometimes haven’t even needed weight.

Run in place for 2 minPush-ups Sit-ups SquatsShoulder raises (pick up anything that has weight)Reverse lungeRepeat x2

Do that 3 times a week and walk the other times and you’ll see a huge diff!

šŸ’Æ I had same realisation last 2 weeks. I started with workout and dirty fast with tea in the morning no weight loss but inch loss every week. Clean IF and workout, inches were going like before weight was also dropping. Then I had covid but continued clean IF. I m seeing the weight dropping but inches arent dropping. I am seeing some inch loss in arms and legs but not in the body!!! With workout i always saw more inch loss in the body than limbs šŸ˜€I would take inch loss over weight-loss any day

Very similar experience. After I loss 20 pounds I thought it would be a dramatic difference in my appearance ( 230 to 210 ) as I had looked when I was younger and weighed the same . but , I just looked like a slightly smaller fat person . It really is important to work out and maintain muscle mass while fasting I guess .

Take it from someone whose 30… I weigh the same as I did when I graduated in 2014 after losing weight and my body fat is definitely higher. I’m ā€œbiggerā€ than I was even at the same weight. Part of it is due to gaining more muscle but not entirely.

There were a lot of contributing factors to me not taking care of myself in my twenties, most of which was my mental health. I spent 23-28 very depressed, anxious, sedentary, and inconsistent with my diet… my brain was trying to survive so weight loss wasn’t a priority. I did try but would give up because of my lack of motivation. I was so lost.

Anyway, definitely get some consistent physical activity in at 25 so you’re not paying for it later like I am!

I’m with what Comfortable-Still-37 said. I picked up body weight exercises in the December before the lockdowns started rolling in, and I’m glad I did. I basically had no excuse to not be active because of it loll.
