I suffered an injury that prevented me from exercising, and I watched myself get bigger over time. It was super depressing.
I’ve been using the intermittent fasting and it helped a lot, but I took a small break from intermittent fasting to implement a plan to stop eating all sugar that comes from anything other than fruit. No sugar in coffee, no sugary drinks, no candy, no cake, nothing that contained sugar that wasn’t fruit.
For the first two months I let myself eat as much fruit as I wanted whenever I wanted to appease my sugar cravings. It is tough to kill those cravings.
And the weight just melted off, and my energy improved in ways I didn’t think possible for a 38 year old man. Now that I have been able to reintroduce intermittent fasting keeping my weight where I want it (around 170-180lbs as I am 6”2) requires no other effort. Honestly, I don’t even have to fast as much.
Here are some tips: I sliced up and froze a bunch of oranges, kept apples strawberries, and grapes cold in the fridge. I couldn’t have quit the sugar without the first period during which I are as much fruit as I wanted whenever I wanted. Give it a shot! It made a huge difference for me.
This is inspiring. I have done the zero sugar / IF thing before and the energy increase is amazing. I have a terrible relationshipWith food and have been trying to summon the discipline to get back to it. I will revisit this post and also share.
My story is a bit different. I started IF 17 days ago so I’m new to this method.I decided to cut all the added sugar. I am eating fruits, foods with natural carbs, and some small amount of foods with hidden carbs (pickels etc.).I start every meal with fruits and finish it with a compot (diced and cooked apples with a bit of lemon and water). I have a sweet tooth, love eating fruits and I finish my meals with dessert. No wonder I’m overweight. So far, eating one serving of fruits and compot per meal is working for me. The sweet cravings are in check and I’m losing some weight.
