i know i’m just going to sound like a crybaby here, but something i’ve learned about myself in my weight loss journey is if i restrict myself too much on the things i enjoy the most, i will fail. my morning coffee is a big part of this lol.
i’m starting off eating for 8 hours, fasting for 16. i’m using the simple app to guide me so far.
i wake up for work at 5:45am and i dont get home until around 6pm (7:30 if i go to the gym). im not a breakfast person, i typically dont get hungry until around 11-12ish so i think eating from 12pm-8pm is my best bet. my plan is to meal prep for lunch, eat lunch at 12pm, have a snack or preworkout, and cook dinner when i get home and call it a day.
it all seems easy and perfect until i think about my coffee. every morning i make myself a lil coffee and sit outside and hype myself up for the day. this is super important to me and i do not like black coffee. i drink cold brew with a splash of chocolate almond milk and coffee creamer. it’s around 75 calories. is this light enough to not break my fast? or if anyone has any advice on how to incorporate my fasting with my morning coffee? i only get one 30 minute lunch break at work, so i worry if i change my fasting time i’ll only be able to eat one meal a day if i wake up too late or can’t force down some breakfast.
help :(
Technically, it breaks a fast but if you are fasting in order to eat less calories in the day, that 75 calories is not that big of a deal. A lot of people do this (dirty fasting) and still lose weight.
Some people fast to keep their insulin from spiking, so they would want to do a “clean fast” and not have that creamer and chocolate almond milk. Just depends on ones goals.
I’m kind of the way you are. I do 18/6 and 20/4 with my eating windows in the late afternoon and evening. But when I get up each morning I am so hungry! And it takes all my willpower to not eat. But somehow I’m making it.
I’m currently 5’1 and 47kg, so I’m already pretty thin naturally so it may differ from your expiernce but here’s just a tip I’d like to give
If you ever fail to fast for your selected amount, it’s alright. For example if your trying to do a 16:8 or a 20:4 and your a good way in but Fail, don’t worry it’s still working.
Because even if you failed you dieted for long enough that your body has at least lost more weight then it would usually, which in the end means you are succeeding. So don’t be sad if you haven’t reached your goals for 16 hours, because even if you did just 12, you’ve already burnt more fat then before. Even just trying your best helps.
What I’m trying to say is, if you fail, your still succeeding, don’t give up and keep on going, because soon enough you’ll reach the full hours and lose even more weight.
