Answer

im at day 7 as well and my goal is at least 30 days, feeling this way is completely normal. i too don’t have energy and even though i love video games i can’t play for more that 15 minutes before i get tired and lay down again, there is nothing to do about it, just accept it and remember its temporary and it will end after you reach your goal.

40 days of fasting is quite a commitment! Is this your first long-term fast? Have you consulted your primary care physician?

Speaking as somehow who fasted for 32 days at the longest, I recommend a few things.

First of all, and excuse me if you think this is gross and intrusive, but give yourself an enema, and fairly soon. Peristalsis, the contractions of the bowel that move food through your gut, do not happen when you’re not eating; you need to get rid of what’s in there now, and soon. Don’t let it harden into a lump of jagged gravel! Trust me, trying to poop out a month-old turd is positively traumatizing. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Secondly, 40 days is quite a long time to go without trace minerals and vitamins. When I was doing my long-term fasts, I took Citrical, Ultima Replenisher electrolyte drink mix, and a Centrum; I also ate two pinches of Himalayan salt twice daily. This seemed to do the trick for me, but your mileage may vary.

And finally: careful about how much food content you view! I can sympathize; during the end of my long fast, I was making lists of the foods I was going to cook/eat when it was over, watching food review channels, obsessing over recipe sites. It can absolutely take over your life! Do your best to sty distracted, is all I can recommend. Audiobooks worked for me.
