I think what matters is your getting enough calories to maintain a healthy weight. I lead an active life with weightlifting cardio and 20 to 30 thousand steps per day but my meals are very high in fiber. Although this is an extreme example it means I often have to force down an extra meal or 2 and eat when I’m not hungry just to maintain my weight.Rather than when you eat just make sure you eat enough. If getting enough calories means “boredom” eating then it’s better to do it to maintain a healthy weight. If you can maintain your weight eating only when your hungry then that’s fine too

Hello! I’m a dietician, hope this helps!

With prolonged periods of semi starvation the body adapts to infrequent eating. Unfortunately this also means the body compensates by slowing down and changing some internal processes (reduced gut motility, reduced metabolism, increases in adipose tissue etc) to essentially keep you alive. Check out the Ancel Keys starvation experiment https://eatingdisorders.dukehealth.org/education/resources/starvation-experiment

It’s good that your weight has remained stable however if you’re eating infrequently you may also be at risk of several vitamin an mineral deficiencies due to a lack of total oral intake.

If you like you can always request a full blood count from your primary physician to check your vitamin and minerals stores to ascertain if any deficiencies exist.

Hormones play a key role in regulating hunger and satiety. If there is an imbalance in certain hormones, such as ghrelin which stimulates hunger or leptin which signals fullness, it can affect your appetite and hunger levels.
