Is this realistic? And if it is, under what kind of fasting schedule? Has anyone lost this much using dry fasting?
Depends on a LOT of factors. If you are just starting a weight loss journey, 50 lbs can come off fast AF because you’ll have possibly a good 20 lbs of extra water. Your age, genetics, sex, and what level of insulin resistance you may have.
50 lbs in 90 days is doable. But if you end up losing 30 or 25 lbs, that’s still good too. Fixing your health is not a race. Just sayen ☺️ I’m almost 3 years into turning my life around and it is still a work in progress.
Personally I try to do a 40-48 hour fast once a week, and do 20:4 IF, many times OMAD but I eat slowly. I’ve done 3-day dry fasts, but I keep that to maybe once a month. I team that with good workouts and a goal of 8k steps per day average (some days are closer to 15k, balancing out a day I may mostly rest at home). I include the sauna as well, which the one at my gym gets up to 180° F, I’ll spend 25-40 minute sessions in there, and got to the point I don’t drink water at the gym at all.
I eat basic foods that are non-processed. I make salads with fresh chopped onions, tomatoes, pickles, flax seeds, mushrooms, whatever lettuce I want and make a dressing with fresh lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and olive oil. I buy what cuts of meat I want if I want to eat meat, and will eat lots of eggs. I always go for organic and pasture raised whenever I can.
Cannot stress this enough: Don’t forget to REST as well. Getting quality sleep is where the real repairing kicks in, and helping you keep your cortisol levels down. You need balance of rest and breaks in between your stress.
