If 1 day DF=3 day WF, why is recovery so different?

I’m able to recover in a couple hours after a 48hr DF. Maybe I don’t eat a giant OMAD but I go back to carnivore with no problems. After a 5 day water fast, however, I have to carefully eat small planned meals for a couple days to get back to normal. I’m just trying to wrap my head around it.

Answer

The difference is metabolism…Dry fast the fires are hotter. More energy available. Water fast the fires are low. The stronger dry fast has more energy and change modes faster. So that’s probably why the digestive system can turn on a lot faster.

The same thing is true if you’re working out doing cardio. Your energy is higher. Food put in your stomach is digested faster after intense training. Or cardio/training gets your digestive juices pumping and ready.
