IF and Urine Smell

I searched here and found that ketosis can cause a distinct smell to urine. I have been doing 16:8 for 42 days now—-I think I’ve lost about 6-7lbs (I couldn’t bring myself to step on a scale at first). Is it possible to be in ketosis eating a fairly regular diet? I’ve never smelled this before and it is daily …even while I am in the eating window. Also- I have stopped drinking alcohol which I had been drinking regularly.

Answer

I haven’t noticed a change in urine but certainly in breath.

By all accounts, when we’re in ketosis we actually exhale the fat instead of sweating it out so your breath is different.

I’m not a doctor, but I wouldn’t be surprised if your lower sugar levels resulted in a body chemistry change to make your urine smell different.

I’d recommend drinking more water to help flush whatever is going on.

Answer

I think if you’re not eating enough calories then your body will start to break down protein (muscles) and this can make your breath smell. This happened to me early on but I guess I must be used to burning fat now as it doesn’t seem to happen anymore.

Answer

-Raw apple cider vinegar water -Lemon water -Whole blended lemons-Blending as many cups of greens in a blender as you can -Drinking at least half your body weight in oz of water-Avoiding caffeine

These things will stop all that, when you’re in ketosis is can make you too acidic and all the stuff I mentioned helps you to alkalize.
