Seeing if this can help psoriasis. I’m not looking to lose any Weight.
Also, How important is it, for proper results, to maintain the same exact number of fasting hours? For example, yesterday I was able to do 22, the day before was 18 etc. is it better to always try for the longest possible amount of time or is there a benefit to the same exact time frame each time?
Thank you!
Not IF related, but you could look into the Paleo diet if you haven’t already. It’s an exclusionary diet that can often help pinpoint food-related interactions. I know several folks who have used it successfully to reduce or identify triggers for seizures, IBS, etc.
I do not know anything about psoriasis and fasting so I cannot comment on that, but I can comment on the timing. The benefit of fasting is controlling insulin for the most part, and after 12 hours you should have used up all your insulin from your last meal if you are in a healthy state. That is why you hear the 16/8 protocol mentioned so much, you are definitely fat adapted at 16 hours. I would check out Ben Bickman, he is an microbiology professor who has some great talks on youtube and maybe he knows of a study or has even conducted his own about insulin and psoriasis.
Fasting hasn’t helped my psoriasis. Best relief I’ve had was on biologics unfortunately. Pretty clear the whole time, I recently came off them and the psoriasis is coming back with a vengeance. 😞Best of luck on finding something that works for you.
IF completely sent my Hidradentis Suppurtiva, and IBS into remission but it hasn’t had any effect on my psoriasis. I highly recommend UVB light therapy because that’s the only thing that’s helped me get close to remission for psoriasis.
