I have started following this sub lately and noticed most posts (if not all?) are about using IF to lose excessive weight. I admit, that it’s part of IF’s appeal for me as well thought I have normal BMI and just want to improve my waistline.
I wonder how many of you intend to stick with IF after you reach your goal weight? Or, for those that reached their GW, have you kept up with IF after that?
I personally intend to do IF indefinitely since it works well with my minimalist lifestyle. It also saves a lot of time and simplify my day, which is what I need.
What about you?
We noticed that the main goal for people is to lose weight with intermittent fasting. Actually, it can have many other benefits, such as improved skin health, better sleep and overall mood, controlled eating, reduced risk of diabetes and heart disease, and others.
The aspect of IF for weight loss is very appealing. But that’s not it’s only benefit. IF works for fat loss too not just weight loss, which is different. Fasting teaches your body to use stored fat for energy. Therefore you can still fast while gaining weight. I’m gonna fast for life. Whether I’m gaining, losing, or maintaining weight.
Soon I’ll need to take a break from IF for surgical recovery and I’m not even sure how I’m going to do it, lol. Hopefully it’ll be easier with practice but right now when I try to expand my eating window, it feels weird and unappealing.
I hope that with time IF can be a more normal/common thing because right now the biggest thing I routinely hit into is other people being baffled by the idea of an eating schedule. Especially my family of origin: growing up, dinner was routinely served past other kids’ bedtimes, so they regard even following culturally typical mealtimes as a big concession.
I’ve been doing IF during the weekdays for 4 years now. The first year I hit my goal weight and I just enjoy eating this way so I’ve been doing it since. I maintained a healthy weight easily until this year I ate like shit during my feeding windows and gained 20lbs over the course of the year. I know if I wasn’t doing IF that 20lbs would be more like 30-40
