I started keto first, to control t2 diabetes. I recorded everything I ate on the Carb Manager app. The app also gives the calories.
I found that I also lost a little weight, so starting looking at calories and what I was eating…which was a lot of calories!
Counting calories, I started reducing calories….Lost more weight.
Discovered IF…fits in nicely to keto and IF.
Bottom line, I lost 70 pounds, controlled my diabetes and loving IF. At maintenance weight now.
Hey! You should check out the fasting method podcast. Go to the beginning and they talk about fasting and keto. I am similar that some days you seem to put in 150% and find out you went backwards. But honestly hang in there and don’t give up! You’ve already made the hardest step in doing something to feel better!
If you need a fasting buddy let me know!
Everyone’s body is ultimately different. For me I didn’t start getting real results until I incorporated extended fasting once a week ( 48 hrs + ) sometimes 65+ and I’m losing about 10 lbs a month. I run 3 to 4 days a week, and lift weights too. I always eat relatively healthy but i dont do Keto except for my first meal breaking fast. Just some more ideas. Play around with it and don’t give up!
Keto is like adding an afterburner to a great jet engine (IF). Keto just makes it go faster.
Track what you are drinking and make sure there isn’t sugar in your drinks.
Black Coffee, Black Tea and water are the way.
If you have a holiday cocktail, try to keep it Vodka/Gin with Diet Soda/Diet Tonic.
If you can, add some high intensity interval training routines to your workouts right before you break your fast, but if you are just getting back into it then some good walks are a great place to start.
Every little choice adds up…
