If orange juice is bad, would it be healthier to squeeze out all the juice before eating an orange?

Answer

I wouldn’t say orange juice is bad. Fruit juice contains most of the sugar from the fruit without any of the fiber, but the juice also contains micronutrients. The best option is just to eat the whole fruit. The sugar gives it a better flavor than juiced fruit would have, and you still get the fiber and micronutrients.

Answer

I mean orange juice isn’t bad. It’s just not this nutritious thing people make it out to be. If you have the calories available it’s a refreshing drink. We have to stop vilifying food. I’m not shitting on you op I’m just talking in general.

Answer

Orange juice is not inherently bad.

And for your question about draining the orange, no need because fruit is packed with fiber that slows the blood sugar spike from the sugar found present in the fruit. That’s why fruit is superior to fruit juice, but calling OJ bad is just demonizing a specific food for no reason.

Answer

There’s nothing wrong with orange juice… unless you already have a high-sugar diet, or you have diabetes or pre-diabetes. For a healthy person, with a healthy diet, there’s absolutely nothing at all wrong with drinking a glass of orange juice a day. The occasional sugar-induced insulin spike is innocuous. It’s persistent high sugar levels that are a problem.

That’s not to say that eating the fruit isn’t healthier, mainly for the fiber. But orange juice is very high in vitamin C, which is very important for your body to be able to maintain and repair itself, among other things. It’s also pretty high in folate which many Americans don’t get enough of.
