Title basically. If the body doesn’t store Vitamin C and needs it daily… shouldn’t we take it with every water fast with 0 calories? Or am I misunderstanding something here?
I used to get gallstone attacks before I started supplementing 3000mg vitamin C between every fast during refeed. I don’t know the science behind it, all I know is it’s been 5 years since and 10 years since my first prolonged fast that gave me a very bad gallstone attack that lasted 14 hours.
At first I did cabbage tea at the end of each fast. Tore up some cabbage leaves and boiled them for 2 minutes, strained it and drank the liquid tea. I was amazed because I had no symptoms for the entire three months of doing rolling 48s.
Then I read up somewhere that eating carbs after a fast uses up your vitamin C a gazillion times faster than keto. And I also found out that cabbage is full of vitamin C and, the cholesterol in gallstones builds up faster when you’re low on vitamin C.
As you can see. Very scientific knowledge off the top of my head. But it definitely made a difference for me.
>The vitamin C pool in the body is usually depleted in 4 to 12 weeks if one stops the intake of the vitamin. Ascorbic acid is affected by many factors that can impair absorption and its functions. The best way to prevent vitamin C deficiency is to consume fruits and vegetables regularly
However, even if not fasting daily vitamin C apparently has immune supporting benefits.
