IF vs Keto for weight loss

In the past I have done keto, atkins or low carb in general with excellent results.

This time, because my cholesterol is quite high, I decided to do IF and I do 18:6 (two meals at 12:00 and 18:00) or OMAD (at 12:00) and I am trying to go lower on carbs but I don’t avoid them completely.

I am losing some weight but I clearly see the progress is much lower than when I was going hard on a really low carb diet with 3 meals a day.

Do you concur with this? Or do you have any recommendations for me?

Do what works for you. Keto makes me feel great but doesn’t really allow me to lose weight. IF I always feel like I eat some junk in my eating window but I do lose weight faster. It’s also easier sociallyIt may be different for you, and keto may be the right choice for weight loss

Answer

My cholesterol has reduced since i ketogenic diet started. At first was higher but I change products in my diet. Now I eat less bacon, more vegetables (agreed in keto) and my cholesterol is lesser. Aby diet can be healthy and unhealthy. Very important it’s what eat in your diet.

Diets all mostly hinge on energy in vs energy out , different diets can help tweak how you store burn energy but that’s tinkering round the edges . The main benefit from different diets it’s how it helps you control your diet , keto makes you feel fuller , IF kind o& forces you to eat less because you have less time to eat and also stops you snacking massively . No doubt longer breaks between meal times has some additional benefit but reality is it’s still mostly about reduces calories . Like most things in life it’s about taking control mentally , however it works for you , also if you’re high colestetol keto probably isn’t great

Cholesterol high -> go WFPB

Carbs don’t make you fat. 90-97% of the fat IN you is from dietary fat. You don’t need to do it for the rest of your life. Try it for 2 weeks. If your goal is to lose weight, why limit yourself to these options if you don’t know what works best for you?

Answer

Gin Stephens advocates that you take no measurements the first month while you’re body is adjusting to IF.

My first month of IF (mostly 20:4), I lost 10 pounds, but my waist actually went up, and didn’t have much change in hips. After two more weeks, I’ve only lost another pound or two, but now the inches are coming.

Since I started, I’ve had birthdays, vacation, and a conference. I’ve mostly kept to my window, but definitely haven’t kept to a diet.
