IF While on Vacation?

Hey guys,

I have been fasting for about 6.5 months. At first, I thought I wasn’t seeing results, but I started to drop weight at a good rate. I am 5ft 8in, Male, age 26, when I began my IF journey, I weighed myself and I was 183 before starting IF. Now, I am 170 and I feel pretty good but not at my goal weight yet!

Anyway, my whole family has planned a whole week vacation and they are very critical about diets and have the mind set “I don’t care how big I am, I am spreading body positivity with my weight.” besides that, the other thing I am worried about is the going out plan, we’re going to different wineries and some nice restaurants. I follow the 16:8 but occasionally will do a 20:8.

But my one question is, should I just enjoy the vacation with family and just watch how many calories I consume?

thanks!

Answer

Relax. Try to make good choices when in a restaurant, watch your total calories. Skip breakfast so you can keep 16:8 or so. Don’t overthink it and remember, the total amount of calories ingested matters more.

Relax, enjoy your vacation and good food, don’t go overboard.

Answer

If eating “the family way” will stress you out… try and do modified 16/8 … as this should not be that noticeable by others. And you may still have routine of sort and not fall off the wagon completely.

Answer

It all depends on your mindset.

To me, fasting is healing my body, not deprivation. A relaxing vacation is often my best opportunity to fast well, and fasting makes it better.

I also don’t see food as a celebration/reward.

But that’s just me personally.

Going off plan wouldn’t be a big deal, you could get back on very quickly, maybe do a fat fast for a couple of days when you get back to get kick-started.

The main thing that I would be worried about is setting boundaries with your family and not putting up with toxic fake body positivity bullshit. If they poison your mindset, this can have much longer term effects than going off plan for a week. Don’t put up with this for a single second.

Show (don’t tell) them real body positivity by taking care of yourself.

Answer

Hello, if I were you I’d continue with the 16:8, enjoying the food and drinks but not as if there was no tomorrow. I say this cos I plan on following my 15:9 as a lifestyle, so it goes with me on vacation too! Best of luck!

Answer

Enjoy the trip. Its about what you value. The good time with a vacation or being strict with your IF. I alwayd let loose on a trip. But i know i will lose the vacay lbs in two weeks after and get back on the healthy lifestyle marathon.

Enjoy yourself, and be ready to get back to work when your back friend.
