If you don’t reduce your carb intake, can you achieve ketosis solely from fasting?

Can a 16-24+ hour fast still induce ketosis? Or is it a must to reduce carb intake?

Answer

Yes, your body produces insulin which gets rid of the excess blood glucose, then you go through liver stores and eventually youd be in ketosis regardless of if you eat keto or not. Keto diets with IF can help you maintain ketosis through your etaing window and can also allow to achieve ketosis faster. But if you fast like 12+ hours you’ll reach ketosis regardless. And in fact if you’re pregnant or have a higher metabolism you’ll reach ketosis before that despite carb intake.

You dont have to do keto to do IF, I do IF and eats tons of carbs and sugar. Some people say that doesnt work for them, but it does for others, you can certainly try it if that’s the way youd like to go and if it doesnt work you can always adjust and try something else and hopefully that works better.
