I’m curious what other do re: medications.

I am currently taking buproprion XR (Wellbutrin XR) and have restarted intermittent fasting. Typically, if I take this medication on an empty stomach, I will vomit. I’ve also been advised to not take this medication after 4pm (as it can have some stimulating effects). I would like to do prolonged fasts (24 hrs, 48hrs, etc), but how could I possibly still take my medication and do this? Or are there no options other than don’t take my medicine (I won’t do this) or don’t fast as long as I would like to.
I am not looking for medical advice, just advice from this people who may be in the same boat I am and have had success with fasting and continuing this medication. Thanks!

It’s really interesting that it gives you an upset stomach because Wellbutrin generally doesn’t do that. It’s typically really well tolerated which is why it’s prescribed so readily.

Anyway, in the past when I had medications that I couldn’t take on an empty stomach I just moved my eating window to the morning. So Instead of skipping breakfast like most people, breakfast became my OMAD. Seemed to work pretty well.

I think if you’ve got medications (especially antidepressants) it’s better to find a fasting schedule that matches with when you need to take those. If you’re consistent you should still have success even if you don’t go longer than 23:1.

Agree with the reply about moving eating window but I know I personally couldn’t do that. I take the same and don’t have any issue with upset stomach- if you haven’t tried it recently maybe it’s worth giving it another shot? Good luck!
