I’m having some trouble with the recipe. Mild dehydration.

Hi guys, I’m having trouble with mild dehydration and headaches.

I have been fasting for a few years, mostly IF and few 48 hours here and there. I saw Cole’s videos a few months back and thought it was too extreme and I wasn’t that keen to drink salts because kidney damage or whatever. I didn’t even look into it. I was just lazy to research.

Later I began to read a lot about how it works and got into it. I’ve done a few 48s and 72s without the snake juice. Not training hard and It was good.

Then I bought the Potassium and sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and lemons. I put around 1500mg of sodium, 1200mg of potassium and 800mg of bicarbonate with a couple tbsp lemon. 2L of water.

The thing is, the days I drink the juice, normally at the end of the day I get this headache and mild palpitations. I sleep through the night not so well and the next day I wake up with the headache still bothering me.

It goes away when I drink a lot of water or when I break the fast.

Along with the juice, I’m used to drink sparkling water. I drink a lot of water normally, 3L per day normally. So that puts me at 2L of snake juice and around 1 liter of normal sparkling water.

I don’t know if this has anything to do with that.

At first I thought it was glucose withdrawals but when I do OMAD and train hard + cardio, I read my ketone levels (evening/night) and I’m already in ketosis, feeling perfect.

Has anyone experienced something like this? Maybe I need to tweak the recipe a little bit? Or should I just drop the normal water and stick to snake juice exclusively?

Are you supplementing Magnesium? That will definitely start giving you heart palpitations when you are low and when you are fasting you shed a lot more magnesium than usual.

I take 300 mg Magnesium Citrate in capsules, divided doses (100mg 3x Day) and then 3-400 mag glycinate at bed.

Sounds like you need salt. Been doing the carnivore diet and fasting / intermittent fasting for about 2 years now. Every time ive gotten a headache which wasn’t to often it has been because i didnt tqke enough salt. Heard cole even talk aboit it himself on youtube yesterday. He made the snake juice and didnt put enlugh salt in it on purpose because each person needs a difforent amount ( which is still a lot) and salt is cheap and you can add it in to your food or water. Sometimes i just toss some in my mouth and wash it down with a swig of water. Put a lot on my meats when i eat as well. Pretty much that peper and garlic is all i season with.
