I’m super new to this and I have some questions :)

hello everyone! I’m new to intermittent fasting and I have some questions regarding the flexibility of this dietary method given my kinda unpredictable schedule and lifestyle.

In the 16:8 method, can I eat in different moments of the day during the 8 hours rather than the 3 full meals? I generally end up eating the same amount of food, both when I have time to eat my 3 meals and when I eat randomly in different moments during those 8 hours.

Apart from this, sometimes I end up having some kind of 16:9,10 period. As long as I follow the 16 hours fasting this shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Finally (omg this is getting long hahaha) sometimes I only can fast for 12 hours. Is that period too short?

The main goal is to limit your calories to a time period. So with your example ina 8 hour period. I can be any time of day you want. I do see some people shift their 8 hour window around, whatever works for you.

A lot of people tend to keep to a schedule because its easier, I for one dont get hungry til 3-5 PM everyday now. If i had to shift my meals around i think id always be hungry.

It shouldnt be a problem to have longer periods. Again the main goal is to limit calories, if you have less time to eat calories youre likely going to take in calories. CICO! I would maybe still record your calories daily if you need to change from a 8 hour window to 10. Again, alot of us like to keep a schedule but it doesnt fit everyone so do whats best for you!
Remember to drink lots of Water! like a lot extra!

A 12 hour window will get you -some- benefits, but the good stuff is 16+. From what i read 16+ is our goal. If youre eating in a 10 hour window youll have to have a short day or super long day at one point to keep that 16 hour fasting window. So its to be expected. So i believe 12 is okay, but do your best for 16+.
