Incorporating 48 hour fasts into the routine

So I’m not new to intermittent fasting, but I’m new to fasts longer than 24 hours so I figured newbie question was the preferred flair here.

I’m approaching the tail end of a 48 hour fast as we speak, and I’m curious how I should go about things with frequency of longer fasts.

Before, my routine was pretty simple. 16:8 weekdays with one day per week (usually Monday to Tuesday) being a full 24 hour fast from dinner to dinner. If what I’m reading is correct, I shouldn’t aim to do a 48 hour fast more than twice per month.

My main question is this. If I do a 48 hour fast twice per month, is it excessive to return to my previous routine of one 24 hour fast on weeks that I don’t do the 48? Or does the incorporation of a 48 hour fast into the routine mean I should lay off of the more extended fasts on the off weeks?

Answer

Sustainable enough. There are guys out there who’ve been rolling 48s for months. A few who are using 48s as maintenance.

Me personally I try to do 48s 3x a week on weekdays and eat back to back on weekends. Trying to get ripped before Christmas. Of course I’ve failed a few times but over the last month I’ve done at least two 48s per week. The challenge for me is trying to do 48s even during days when I have to cook for family.
