Answer

I would say that some measure of controlling carbs is helpful just from a hunger standpoint, but that can be switching to complex carbs, going low carb, or complete keto, depending on the person. Lots of folks have success regardless.

It’s not necessary to cut carbs, but you’ll probably see more positives by at least cutting out refined carbs. I cut processed carbs where I can. I don’t do keto but I probably hover somewhere around 75g carbs a day. Most of my carbs come from veggies, fruit and foods like oats/beans/whole grains.

I’m just going to repeat myself until people recognize the truth in it. ALL diets work because they stop you from doing what got you unhealthy in the first place. Sure, tweak around your macros and all that two sources of fuel feeding, but basically you’re not hurting yourself like you were when you were free range eating whatever and whenever you felt like mindlessly eating. Diets just put an need to that out of focus, out of your mind, out of control living.

Answer

Equating for calories and protein, the ratio of fat and carbs is relatively meaningless. I personally eat low carb 30%. But I do have heavier carb days. If carbs make u hunger avoid them. If they don’t, enjoy them.

When my weightloss stagnated I switched to keto and boy did the weight fall off. I lost around 5 pounds in two weeks. I had to take a break from the diet as it is difficult for me to maintain. But It’s ok because I hit the gym more instead.
