Well, so far you’re getting lots of really thoughtful responses here… 🙄

I think it depends what you mean by improperly and by long periods. Can you say more? On the whole, so long as you’re getting enough nutrition in your feeding windows you should be good. Well, it also depends on the person, it’s true that it’s not for everyone. But I don’t think that’s what you were asking.

Answer

you can get malnourished from literally any diet or eating regimen or whatever–or from doing absolutely none at all and eating whatever you want whenever you want to–if you’re not doing it “properly.”

Intermittent fasting isn’t something most people do for fun because they saw it on the internet and thought it was cool. They do it for their health. people who care enough about their health to be doing IF, care enough about their health to make sure they’re getting enough nutrients.

My thoughts are that anyone who really believes this has a fundamental misunderstanding about intermittent fasting and needs to do some more research.

What you are describing is results of ignoring macros, electrolytes & an overall very low calorie diet long term. People have been fasting for a very long time, often with great success. There is a right way and wrong way to do it.

Answer

I did IF a couple years back and then figured out i had some deficiencies that IF made worse, like B12. It REALLY sucked and took a while before i figured it out 😅 so now i take supplement for the things i have trubbel eating or absorbing enough of. Honestly i would not dare to do if without my vitamins and blodtest regularly. Everyone is different though
