I’m interested in starting fasting for weight loss but am a little confused on how it works. Is it no food at all during fast or just liquids/bone broths? Also could this mess up my metabolism at all?
I usually recommending fasting to improve health, not for weight loss. There’s many people with eating disorders that fasting becomes another part of that.
My questions to you would be:
You don’t want to end up not getting enough nutrients over time and you don’t want to be reliant on fasting for weight control.
If you are finding it very difficult to stick to a diet and you have a lot of weight to lose, then you should consider the protocol especially designed for people who couldn’t stick to any other form of weight loss plan. This protocol, alternate day fasting (ADF) allows you to eat as much as you want one day, but the next you only are allowed 500 calories. This way you are never far from being unrestricted and it’s proven to help those who really find any other method too hard.
If you are not in that category then portion size control, 2 meals a day, or other dietary interventions might be better than fasting per se.
