Is 16-18 hours of intermittent fasting everyday going to result in weight loss eventually?

I also use the treadmill for an hour most days. I eat about 2,000 calories a day. I’m 27 female 5’5” I’ve been fasting for like 3 weeks now and I have noticed a little bit of weight loss but it hasn’t been drastic. Will this help me lose weight ?

Without knowing your current weight and activity level it’s difficult to say… Plug your data into this:

And see where the 2k calories falls. After you calculate you can scroll down and there are maintenance, cutting (weight loss) and bulking (weight gain) tabs.

I’m 29 and 5’5 and 176lbs. My maintenance is just under 1900 calories. I eat 1200-1400 calories a day to lose 1-1.5 pounds a week. Depending on your weight, 2000 calories a day doesn’t sound like much of a deficit. You should use a TDEE calculator and see what your daily calorie maintenance is, and subtract 500 calories from that to see a one pound a week loss

Answer

If you’re outputting 2000 Kcal per day but eating 3000, it doesn’t matter if you fast. You can be doing omad and still put on weight. It’s really simple - fasting only results in weight loss when it means you’re eating less than you use. I’m not understanding why this isn’t clear.

I read so many questions in here all the time that all the same damn thing - I’m hardly eating and I’m exercising but I’m not losing weight. Well I’m sorry, but you’re either eating more than you think or not exercising as much as you think.

Fasting alone will not necessarily help you lose weight. It’s best used as part of a more holistic weight loss strategy that also includes an an exercise routine and healthy diet plan.
