Is a 16:8 fast on weekdays and a 14:10 fast on weekends sufficient for burning fat?

Hi! I am not currently overweight (I’m 156cm/ 5’1 and 50kg/ 110lbs), but I would like to lose about 3kg/ 7lbs to get rid of some pouchy fat around my waist, and stubborn fat around my arms and thighs.

I am moderately active in cardio but I don’t lift weights or do strength training.

I just started intermittent fasting about a week ago, and I have been managing 16:8 to cut down on the useless snacking that I do throughout the day. I did only 14:10 on the weekend because my family wanted to eat together. Could I check if I would still be able to lose fat if I were to maintain this level of fasting (16:8 on weekdays and 14:10 on weekends). Or should I try to extend my weekday fasts? I’m relatively social so it’s a bit hard to skip lunch when I am with my coworkers, though I don’t eat with them every day. However, would:

20:4 twice a week

16:8 three times a week

14:10 twice a week

work to help me burn fat? Thank you!

Answer

Why don’t you try it for a few weeks and see if it works for you? The length of the fast isn’t as important as what and how much you’re eating. You could do a 23 hour fast every day but if you ate 4000kcals of junk during your one hour window, you’d likely not lose weight.
