Is Cow's Milk bad for you?

Hello friends! I know it may seem weird, but I have to write a persuasive paper on why cow’s milk isn’t that good for you. I decided to post here to get some good advice and/or articles stating why it wouldn’t be good for you to drink, or better alternatives. Any advice and help is appreciated! :)

If you’re European or a Eurasian it is recommended that you do drink milk. If you’re in a climate where the sun is not out all day its a solid source of vitamin d and healthy fats regardless of your race. I’d avoid grain fed, try to find grass fed. More expensive but you’ll certainly taste the difference.

I personally drink about half a gallon of whole milk a day + cheese and yogurt/cottage cheese as snacks/toppings.

It is for most adult humans that lack the enzyme to properly break down lactose sugar. Basically we are only meant to consume any milk at an early age and then wean off it toward other foods.

>In most human populations, lactase activity decreases during mid-childhood (about five years of age), resulting in low levels from that age onwards. This pattern is similar to that seen in all other mammals examined, with a reduction in intestinal lactase activity at weaning to a fraction of that found in the suckling newborn.

Humans are the only organism to consume milk after the initial breast feeding period. Id look into that because that plays a role of why we “should” drink milk but in reality we can live with out it. Too much milk consumption can lead to inflammation in the intestines and mess up your digestive system. I have personally been of victim of this. Is it bad? Not necessarily, just drinking TOO much and depending how ones digestive system really factors.

Answer

You could talk about how cow’s milk lacks fiber, which means that the milk sugars (lactose) are instantly absorbed in the body. Also maybe you could discuss the difference between pasteurized milk and unpasteurized milk in terms of bacteria. Lastly, to echo other users here, lactose intolerance is a great topic to discuss.
