Do they have the same nutrients? Or is dried fruit less nutritious? It also has a higher glycemic index?
From the research I’ve read, it’s not the same, but still, generally, pretty good. (But make sure you’re getting dried fruit with no added sugar, and be mindful about the amount you’re eating since it’s generally less filling.)
Also, some foods, like dates and figs, are primarily consumed dried and so the nutrition research on them is generally for their dried form.
You tend to eat a lot more dried fruit compared to normal fruit so you risk increasing your sugar intake, potentially by a lot because it’s much less filling. So technically it’s equally healthy but the fact that you tend to consume more is what makes it less healthy
It’s the same fruit with two major differences. A) A lot of the time dried fruit is coated/glazed in sugar that’s used as a preservative. Not always, but you have to read the labels
B) since there’s no water, it’s not as filling and you have to be very careful to not overeat.
Dried fruit is not as healthy as fresh fruit. It is a more processed version of the original. Now is it necessarily bad? Of course not, you would be better eating dried fruit than a bag of your favorite candies. But I would not suggest eating copious amounts of dried fruit because you think that they’re equal to their fresher counter part.
More calorie dense, less satiating, more concentrated sugar so spikes blood sugar compared with whole fruit diluted with its water. I’m sure the vitamins and minerals are still in same amounts - although I am not a scientist!
Dried fruit is ok. It’s not as “healthy” per say as regular fruit - if anything it’s the same, but there’s more nutrients in fruit in its raw form. Lots more fiber in the skin of fruit, and technically more satiating to eat raw fruit. Make sure the ingredients are good too - no added sugar and you should be fine to snack on dried fruit. Also watch out for additives. Literally the only ingredients should be dried fruit.
Freeze-dried berries, great!
Regular dried fruit, still healthier than candy lmao. Just don’t eat too much regular (not freeze-dried) dried fruit if you find it easy to overeat/struggle with weight.
I don’t know everything about dried fruit yet. That’s all I can say so far.
We have apple trees at my parents house so I eat a lot of dried apple slices during the winter. It’s a good snack and in my opinion not as easy to “overeat” as dates for example.
Don’t know about the nutritional values though.
