Is expired bone broth powder probably safe to drink?

so i was going through an old tub of supplements i forgot about and found bone broth powder, it’s still powdery and hasn’t clumped or anything…looks just fine like when i first got it…BUT it says “best by April 2020”. it’s a bone powder so i can’t see it being likely to poison me?? thanks!

Answer

“Best by” is different to “use by” and isn’t saying it’s unsafe to consume due to spoilage. For an unopened and powdered product like bone broth, there isn’t even enough water within the product for it to go off.

Answer

For those kind of things, best by usually refers to either taste (because oils go rancid) or nutritional content, because nutrients degrade over time (most likely answer in this case).

It’ll be safe to eat, just probably nutrient devoid.
