Is it really an overrated food that has many risks?
What context is “a superfood” ? In ancient times they didn’t have the ultra processed foods we have today so they would have used honey as a preservative and easy access energy during more harsh times of the year
Wouldn’t call it a superfood but in moderation it’s totally fine and the risk of sugar is non existent unless your loading on high glycemic foods in daily diet.
Sugar is not bad, it’s when you let sugar turn into a domino affect of eating endlessly even when you’re not hungry.
I wouldn’t call it a super food, but I have recently had some Greek wild flower honey. Its much different to what I have here in Australia with farmed honey. I could actually taste the flowers it was aromatic.

Raw unheated honey is without a doubt a superfood. Has vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. Has been shown to boost the immune system and help take care of free radicals.
The problem is a majority of honey on the market isn’t Raw. Heated and processed honey loses a ton of its nutritional value and is no longer the same food. You need to find Raw Unheated honey. And definitely don’t get that garbage honey that has high fructose corn syrup in it.
Yes. It’s too high on glycemic index and it’s something that people do not use in moderation. It also is getting harder and harder to find true honey on a store shelf,like Olive oil there is a lot of deception in the marketing.I personally do believe in honey as a throat remedy when used with ginger and other antiseptics and infusions.
These questions are really nitpicking at certain foods that if included in an otherwise healthy diet would do no harm: have no additional benefit. Honey is definitely better than sugar, so I’d say whenever you crave sugar eat fruit or honey. Also, Manuka or Thassian Pine Honey can have some benefits like treating sore throats, being anti bacterial and possibly having some other benefits. It’s also good before a workout ti give you energy :D
Depends where you get your honey from. A lot of items bought in store are so processed or off that it’s dissimilar from the “real” thing it’s hard to say what’s overrated and what isn’t. Knowing your ingredients is the only way sometimes.
Googling Olive oils in the US was eye opening and is a good example of a product that’s not as good as the “legit” well made and maintained thing.
