I’m a college student and I’ve been wanting to try IF for a while, but I always get tired when I don’t eat for extended periods of time. My academic success is important to me, so I’m worried that if I fast I will be to tired to focus on assignments. Has anyone found this? How do you cope with tiredness when fasting?
I actually find the opposite, I have way more energy, and when I sleep its much more soundly. I have a pretty intense (not physically though lol) job, and I used to be so groggy by the time I got home from work I just wanted to sit on the couch and watch TV. I now go out, run, shower, make lunch, tidy up, maybe a load of laundry. I go pretty stead till 9-10, then go to bed and I’m out fast
I drink more water than usual if I’m tired, I find that it wakes up the digestive system and keeps the body functions going when a little tired. Sorta like how coffee is used as a stimulant with the caffeine, well plenty of water keeps the body going too and keeps it regular when it comes to going to the bathroom.
While fasting though I’ve gotten used to the empty stomach part and after about 15 hours my body has an energy boost and its pretty cool so no energy crash in the afternoon.
If you want to eat during the day you could do eating 9am to 5pm and fasting 5pm till 9am the next day and that’s 16:8.
I do fasting 8pm till 2pm or later the next day and eating 2pm till about 8pm but am trying to end my eating window earlier so I could go to bed with an empty stomach and not so full of food.
Find a fasting/eating schedule that fits your lifestyle and you’ll get there.
