is it a myth that Dry Fasting actually destroys fat cells?

When we work out and lose weight, our fat cells shrink but are still there. Does dry fasting really dehydrate the cell to the point of it’s death and subsequent removal or is this a myth?

Answer

I don’t know. Actually I can imagine, that the body won’t kill them, because destroying fat cells sounds only appealing in our modern instagram life. I can imagine that by destroying a fat cell and the need to build it again, it would cost extra energy.

Answer

Yes, it’s a myth. Fat cells can not be destroyed, they can only be depleted. When you gain weight fat cells multiply and stay for life. So the more weight one has gained the more fat cells they have.

This is why people who have been overweight in the past will always gain fat easier than people who have never been overweight. You can deplete fat cells with diet and fasting but the only way to actually remove them is with surgery.
