Is it possible the your body stops producing nutrients if you are dosing them via diet?

Like steroids, let’s say you’re using something like glucosamine or creatine. If you take lots over the long run, is it possible that your body will stop producing them naturally?

Answer

Our body is pretty smart. If you get enough, then it stops producing.

I think one example is cholesterol. If we consume a ton, then the liver will produce less. If we consume just a little bit, then the liver will produce more to make sure our needs are met.

Edit: I see that I am being downvoted for saying this.

This is my source:

“The body tightly regulates the amount of cholesterol in the blood by controlling its production of cholesterol.

When your dietary intake of cholesterol goes down, your body makes more. When you eat greater amounts of cholesterol, your body makes less. Because of this, foods high in dietary cholesterol have very little impact on blood cholesterol levels in most people (9Trusted Source, 10Trusted Source, 11Trusted Source, 12)”

Would love to know if this article is incorrect cuz I am actually quite fond of healthline.

I’ve heard you can mess up stomach acidity by drinking pop all the time, but I doubt it. Still; don’t drink pop. I can’t think of any other non-regulated substance that would downregulate, except the obvious - diabetes type 2 and the metabolic syndrome is sort of that.
