Is it possible to fast if you take medications?

I would like to fast 2 days per week (during the weekends) but unfortunately I have to take Lithium Carbonate, Concerta and Ritalin and taking these on an empty stomach makes me nauseous and gives me severe migraines.

I get my blood and heart tested regularly so from a health point of view I am perfectly clear but I seriously can’t figure out how to fast for 2 days without suffering side effects from the medications.

So I was wondering if any of you are in the same situation? Is it possible to do this at all or better not to fast while on meds?

Thanks!

Answer

definitely ask your doctor, because lithium reacts so strongly with your electrolyte levels and it can get dangerous quickly. i remember my psychiatrist told me to go for intermittent fasting (16:8) at the most.

Answer

I’ve done a 7 day fast on Elvanse(vyvanse) - not sure about lithium but that should be similar to riltain/concerta.

I’m on a 7 day fast rn without any medications and its HARDER, i feel like with stimulants it was easier to control myself.
