is it safe to fast and workout at the same time? (60-72) hour water fast

so ive done 60 - 90 hour water fasts in the past, havent done it in over a year. but i never worked out during them, so im curious is it safe for ur muscles and tendonds/ligaments to exercise while ur not getting any nutrients?

for example my workout routine looks like this, jog everyday, alternate lower/upper body sesh with a mix of barbell/dumbell/bodyweight lifts, on the 3rd day ill jog at the beach and swim, do sum core exercises and some kettlebell swings, and than repeat. so basically 0 rest days, also walk for like 2 hours daily.

so im wondering will it be safe, maybe i just have to limit it to ‘light seshes’ on the days i workout?

also should add that i have niggles in my tendons, but i still can workout through them. also muscular tensions in my back/upper traps. so since apparently fasting can heal your tissues, i thought this might be good for me.

Not only is it safe, it is a good idea to maintain muscle mass. If you think about nature, animals exercise in order to capture prey to then eat. Our bodies are designed to exercise fasted so that we can find food.

I am currently on OMAD with 2 rolling 48s per week. I work out 6 days a week: 2 rounds of PPL with a rest day on the 7th. I end all lifting sessions with 20 minutes of yoga, followed by 20 minutes of cardio of varying intensity. I also do barefoot sprinting, snorkeling and kayaking afterwards with no issues at all.

I think you’ll be fine.

edit: more relevant to your fasting hours, I used to do rolling 48/72s and maintained a PPLPPL weekly routine for over 6 months without deviation. I’d be currently more concerned about your “niggles in your tendons” over the fasting aspect if you were to push yourself a little.
