Answer

No, fasting is not recommended for teens as you are still growing.

The good news is that you’re taking a look at your health and your habits from an early age, and that’s commendable! Have you brought up your concerns and goals with your doctor? That would be a good first step.

Answer

I would consult a doctor. You are still growing, however if you’d like to lose weight, try counting calories or eating a more leafier diet? Being young, you probably don’t buy your own groceries, so maybe ask your mom/dad/guardian to buy more greens. I personally like the big boxes of spring mix at Walmart. You can cut up chicken, eggs or fruit as well. I, myself, wouldn’t water fast at your age because it can lead to complications in growth, but a diet change with surely help!

Answer

Not worth extended fasting.. your hormones are performing way more than they do for a fully grown adult. OMAD you’d be fine with. Definitely send an email or voicemail to your doctor though giving them a heads up.

Use a TDEE calculator. Eat your maintenance or 500 lower. You can do it.

I’m 16 and fast. I’ve been fine and the longest I’ve gone is a week and a half. It varies on if you have any health issues, etc. It’s different for everyone. But i say try it for a couple days and see how it goes. Goodluck

Answer

you should try keto and intermittent fasting instead of prolonged fasting you need lots and lots of protein to maintain your pubescent growth its very very important in your case or you would end up looking like a malnourished north korean refugee whos short weak and has a peanut like dick

Answer

I would strongly recommend against that. You could screw up your development and regret it later. I probably wouldn’t suggest doing it until you’re at least 25z

Just try to eat healthier and exercise more. Eat vegetables. If you already do, eat more. If you don’t like vegetables, get over it. (If you think forcing yourself to eat kale is too hard, you definitely won’t have the discipline for fasting when you’re older.)

I know this is probably a frustrating response, but it’s what I genuinely believe it best. You don’t want to screw up brain, body, or reproductive development for you later in life.

Study nutrition (specifically for your age and sex). Eat a vegetable based (not necessarily exclusive) diet. Try to get your starches from vegetables and beans and not grains and flours. Showing an interest at your age puts you far ahead of your peers.

The weight will come off. It just takes discipline to change your habits.

Answer

I don’t recommend it as it could be a risk but I wish I had done it at that age. I would have probably started with keto or 14-16hr IFs and plenty of proteins in the feeding period. There’s basics that could help way more in the long term for you. Think of doing these basics the equivalent of saving a pound a day, it may not feel like much but overtime it’s pretty profound. They are:

These are the kind of changes where it’s hard for your body to stay unhealthy even if you make little attempt at diet. Drinking more water and sleeping more means you’ll eat less from boredom/not knowing you’re just thirsty and you’ll have less time to crave food and your decision making skills are improved for making good decisions like avoiding sugar. All of the points cliche but the good kind. They work, don’t underestimate them.
