Is it safe to fast for more than 48H for the first time?

Hey! So for reference I’m a 5’2 woman in her early 20’s with a normal bmi and no particular health issues. I have tried IF before as well as omad and I tried water fasting for the first time a year ago. It didn’t really go well I only lasted 36H felt sick and nauseous and tbh I just jumped into it without even knowing what electrolytes were… With more research I tried to do a 48H fast a few months after just because I’m competitive like that! This time around I felt way better than during my first attempt and took some electrolytes on the second day but broke my fast because I was too tempted at a social event…This time around I wanna try a week of water fasting since I still have some electrolytes left and I’m really motivated but I wanna know if it’s safe to go from 48H to 168H fast knowing I’ve only ever done 2 extended fasts ( ignoring IF)?

Answer

If you can complete a 48 hour fast then you can complete a longer fast as the first 48 hours are always the hardest. It gets easier after that. Although hunger will fade away, temptation will always remain. 168 hour may be a bit extreme though. Maybe try a 72 hour or a 120 hour and see how you feel.
